Number System

We start learning numbers in base 10 at such a young age that we dont even realise there is anything to understand there. We just accept them and …..

This acceptance works fine until we are just counting objects around us. But, once we start learning addition with regrouping, few children (thinkers) do not grasp the idea of carry over (regrouping). And they raise their questions in a very cute manner – How does this 1 go there? by taxi?

12 + 17 = 29

We mostly tell them but rarely show them. I would like to show them – how this 1 go to the neighbours (tens)

As, if you do not show them now, division becomes even more tricky. And, children who think more are the one who suffer most with this regrouping concept.
